Our top 10 things to do in New York City

New York City aka The Big Apple is a destination everyone should have on their bucket list. With so many iconic locations - The Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty, and of course Time Square - there’s no doubt NYC will leave you in awe. Check out our top 10 things to do when visiting the city that never sleeps!

1. View NYC’s stunning skyline
The city’s skyline really is something to behold. For the best views make sure to visit one of the three main observation decks: the Empire State Building, One World Observatory (Freedom Tower) or Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Centre. Each deck has its own vantage point, as well as different admission prices, open/closing hours and varying wait times, so check up on which suits you best before you go

2. Visit the 9/11 Memorial & Museum
The memorial is in remembrance of the lives lost in 9/11 and is as breathtaking as it is emotional. The museum is located within the plaza and documents the tragic events of 9/11 through artefacts, documentaries and films. Visiting the memorial is free, however there is an entry fee for the museum - but it’s definitely worth the visit.

3. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge
Take an unforgettable walk across the Brooklyn Bridge which gives you incredible views of the city. We’ve been told walking across the bridge during sunset is the best time to go. You’ll take in views of both Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty while there’s still light out, and get an amazing view as the city comes to life with its bright lights.

4. Visit Times Square
How could we forget Time Square? You could spend hours here shopping, people-watching and being amazed by the billboards. It’s jam-packed with buskers and entertainers so be prepared for the weird and wonderful.

5. Visit The Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island
Set aside 4-5 hours of your day to explore Ellis Island and get an epic view of Lady Liberty. Statue Cruises is the only official provider of tickets and tours to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It includes the tickets to the monument and a ticket to Ellis Island’s National Immigration Museum.

6. Take a stroll through Central Park
Escape the hustle and bustle of NYC’s city streets and take a relaxing stroll through Central Park. You won’t want to miss seeing one of the most iconic urban parks in the world.

7. Check out Coney Island
For a fun-filled activity, make a visit to Coney Island, where its circus-like theme park will keep you entertained for hours. You can hang out at the beach, grab an ice cream for a walk along the promenade or have a go on the Cyclone roller coaster - if you dare.

8. Pig Out
The food in New York is in one word - AMAZING. Staying on a diet during a trip to NYC is almost impossible. From the giant-sized pizza, to the noodle bars in China town, the food choices are endless.

9. Go to a Broadway show
Where some of the most famous shows are performed. Even if you’re not into the whole singing and dancing thing, Broadway shows create such a lively atmosphere, everyone can’t help but enjoy it. Check out what’s playing while you’re there and book your tickets in advance.
